Melbourne’s 8bit Burger is Coming to Sydney

Sydney’s burger enthusiasts rejoice – another franchise is coming to town.

Melbourne’s video game-themed burger joint 8bit is opening in Darling Harbour’s new eatery street, Steam Mill Lane. Chef Shayne McCallum, who co-founded the joint in 2014 in Footscray with Alan Sam, said the new outpost brought 8bit to a new level. “This is our biggest and baddest store,” McCallum told Broadsheet. “It’s massive compared to Footscray and I think it’s looking pretty fantastic.”

The Sydney store maintains the 8bit blue, yellow and orange pixel design, added with thematic décor that pays attribute to the final level of Super Mario Bros. It boasts 130 seats as well as two arcade machines for fun times all around.

In terms of food, expect to see 8bit’s classic burger menu, such as Zelda (chickpea, corn and quinoa patty), Golden Axe (fried chicken, cheese, sriracha mayo and slaw) and Fatal Fury (hotdog with a chilli and cheese kransky, cheese sauce, chilli beef and jalapeños).

8bit opens daily from 11am-11pm.
